Self guided point-to-point walking tour, Slovenia

This self-guided walking tour is a TOP choice for everyone who desires easy-moderate walking, very diverse landscapes from the Alps to the Mediterranean and don't mind daily accommodation changes.

We usually start the tour in Ljubljana with a welcome meeting over a glass of excellent Slovenian wine where our team presents all trip details and hands over the route notes, maps & gps device (if neccessary). From here on your are on your own and the adventure begins! :)

Before starting our point-to-point walk we definately recommend stopping at Lake Bled. Have a swim, hike some hills to get the best views of the lake and bike to nearby traditional villages. It can be a couple of hours or a couple of days. It all depends on your travel plans and wishes.

Our point-to-point walk starts in Slovenia's north-western corner, usually somewhere near the ski resort of Kranjska Gora. From here you walk towards the central Julian Alps and ascend the famous Vrsic mountain pass. The beaufitul trails offer amazing views, you are surrounded by some of the highest Slovenian peaks and their impressive limestone walls. Walk through beautiful beech, spruce and larch forests until you reach the highest point with an impressive 360 view. The route continues with a descent to the stunningly beautiful Soca valley. You leave the highest mountains behind and walk by the emerald Soca river, cross numerous hanging bridges and have countless options to dip your feet into the cold water - or even swim in it! If you are an adrenaline junkie, you should stay a couple of days in the town of Bovec (Slovenian "outdoor mecca") and explore local canyons and rapids. Even if you don't like the adrenaline, we recommend changing your hiking shoes for neoprene clothes & a vessel and hop on the raft! Experience the Soca river from another perspective. You will love it!

You can finish the walking tour in the Soca valley or continue further south and explore another Slovenian gem - the Goriska brda wine hills also referred to as "Slovenian Tuscany". Perfect for walking, cycling, pampering your taste buds with top class food & wine and relaxing by the pool of your splendid hotel. A great way to end this amazing walking trip!

The whole route offers incredible variety of options to ascend nearby peaks, discover some waterfalls, include a cycling day, guided via-ferrata ascent, rock climbing, canyoneering, kayaking, river tubing, rafting or unforgettable gourmet experiences.

In 4 days you can walk from Kranjska Gora to Bovec or Kobarid (Soca valley) and possibly allow some time for water activities.

In 12 days you can do everything stated above, include some rest days or even add a visit to Unesco heritage Skocjan caves and the lovely adriatic town of Piran on Slovenian coast.

Remember: tell us your wishes and we will prepare a 100% customized trip!

      • Why walk in Slovenia with Slotrips?

Because we do what we love!

Review by Emily from Australia, visited us in June 2016

We could not believe the effort Miha went to make our trip to Slovenia so amazing. He responded quickly to emails and put together an itinerary that showed he understood exactly what we wanted out of our trip including amazing food, comfortable accommodation and hiking in the Slovenian alps. We could not have done the hiking trip without Miha's careful instructions for each day of the walk as the walks were not as well marked as what we had previously encountered. Plus, SloTrips organised all of our accommodation, transfers of our bags each day and rafting and sightseeing on the final day. Again, our guide's knowledge of this beautiful country and the best place to stop for fresh cherries was incredible. Thank you so much for a wonderful travel experience, Slotrips is truly a company that understand the travelling preferences of the future - autonomy and adventure with the right amount of guidance so you can navigate a place for yourself and don't get trapped by tourist gimmicks. A day trip alone with Slotrips will not be enough to experience this great country so book in more time.
